What cookies are, which ones the ORION Project website uses, and how to change your mind about them.
About this cookie policy
This cookie policy explains what cookies are and how we use them, the types of cookies we use, the information we collect using them and how that information is used, and how to control your cookie preferences. For further information on how we use, store and keep your personal data secure, see our privacy policy.
Your consent applies to this website. You can change or withdraw it at any time from the “Cookie settings” link in the footer of every page.
What are cookies?
Cookies are small text files that are used to store small pieces of information. They are stored on your device when the website is loaded in your browser. These cookies help us make the website function properly, make it more secure, provide a better user experience, and understand how the website performs so we can analyse what works and where it needs improvement.
Some of the entries listed below are not cookies in the strict sense but local storage — the same idea, kept in your browser rather than sent with every request. We list them here for completeness.
How do we use cookies?
This website uses first-party storage that is necessary for it to work the right way, and audience measurement through Matomo (self-hosted by UIC), enabled by default, to understand how the site performs. No cookie is set for advertising purposes, and no data is sent to Google Analytics or any other third-party analytics provider. You can disable audience measurement at any time through Cookie settings.
What types of cookies do we use?
Necessary — these make the site work and remember the choice you made about the others. They store no personal information and cannot be switched off.
Analytics — these tell us how many people visit, which pages they read, which documents they download and where they came from, so we can see what works and what needs improving. Measurement is performed by Matomo, self-hosted by UIC; no data is sent to Google Analytics or any other third-party analytics provider. This category is enabled by default and you can switch it off in Cookie settings.
This website displays no advertising and sets no marketing or advertising cookies. Nothing here is used to profile you or to follow you across other websites.

| mtm_consent / mtm_consent_removed | Cookie | Matomo (self-hosted by UIC) | Analytics | Remembers, on Matomo's side, that you allowed or withdrew measurement cookies. | 13 months |
Content embedded from other websites (for example a video player) may set its own cookies once you play it. Those are governed by that provider's own policy — see “Embedded content from other websites” in our privacy policy.
How can I control the cookie preferences?
Use the “Cookie settings” link in the footer of any page. It reopens the consent notice, letting you change your preferences per category or withdraw your consent entirely.
In addition to this, different browsers provide different methods to block and delete cookies used by websites. You can change the settings of your browser to block or delete cookies. To find out more about how to manage and delete cookies, visit wikipedia.org or www.allaboutcookies.org.
